Burn Victim Dies Days After Catonsville Fire, Officials Say

Officials say that a 63-year-old man has died days after he was injured in a Catonsville fire.

Catonsville resident Jeffrey Thomas Swimm, suffered severe injuries in a Tuesday, March 28 when a blaze broke out at approximately 11 a.m. in the 500 block of Ingleside Avenue that was visible from the second floor, according to the Baltimore County Fire Department.

During search and rescue efforts, crews located Swimm, who was “seriously injured” on the second floor. Paramedics performed life-saving efforts and rushed him to St. Agnes Hospital in critical condition before he was transferred to the John Hopkins Burn Center.

On Friday, March 31, the agency announced that Swimm has died from his injuries.

The fire remains under investigation, and the Baltimore County Fire Department has not determined the cause of the fire.
